QUI-GON JINN
A venerable yet maverick Jedi Master, once the Padawan of former Jedi Master Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn served as the mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Guided by the Force, Qui-Gon lived espousing a different philosophy from that of his fellow Jedi - a philosophy that often put him at odds with the Jedi Council, valuing instinct and balance over rigid doctrine.
On Tatooine, Qui-Gon encountered a young slave named Anakin Skywalker, unusually strong in the Force. Sensing his potential and convinced the boy was destined for greatness, he freed Anakin from slavery and presented him to the Jedi Council, but they deemed the boy too old to begin training and dangerously full of fear and anger. Only after Qui-Gon’s death did they rescinded their decision to fulfill Qui-Gon’s dying wish by allowing Obi-Wan to take the boy as his Padawan.
Struck down by Darth Maul on Naboo, Qui-Gon Jinn achieved a rare victory over death itself. Through ancient knowledge and communion with the Force, he learned to retain his identity beyond mortality, becoming one of the first Jedi to manifest as a disembodied voice - guiding the future of the Order from beyond the grave.
