JYN ERSO

Impetuous and defiant, Jyn Erso was one of the Rebellion’s most influential figures. Hardened by a lifetime of loss, abandonment, and survival, she grew into a fiercely independent woman who trusted few and believed in little beyond her own instincts.

After her father Galen was coerced into joining the Galactic Empire to serve its secret weapons program, Jyn was subsequently raised by the stoic freedom fighter Saw Gerrera, who taught her how to fight, survive, and resist. Under his protection, she learned the ways of insurgency and sacrifice - but once he disappeared from her life without warning, she was forced to take care of herself. Alone and disillusioned, Jyn lived on the fringes of the galaxy, adopting false identities and drifting from one world to another, pursued at times by the very Empire her father unwillingly served.

Her exploits and criminal record eventually led her to the attention of the Rebel Alliance, who freed her from Imperial custody for a singular purpose: to reach Galen Erso. From him, she learned the truth - that he had secretly built a fatal flaw into the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star. Inspired by his sacrifice and choosing at last to believe in something greater than herself, Jyn embraced the Rebellion’s cause.
She went on to lead one of its most important missions: the daring assault on Scarif to steal the Death Star plans. Against impossible odds, and at the cost of her own life, Jyn Erso ensured that hope would survive - igniting the spark that would one day bring down the Empire.
